You’re Invited to Go for the Green!
JUST ADDED: Family Fun and Barbecue starting at 5:00 pm
All Ritchie Park families are invited to join the Go for the Green event, starting at 5:00 pm at Bretton Woods.
There will be some mini-golf for the kids (free) as well as a barbecue dinner for everyone. Cost for the dinner is $5 for kids and $15 for adults (who aren’t playing golf).
To fund the start-up costs of the Ritchie Park’s new Garden Project (see below), the PTA is sponsoring a Go for the Green Golf Tournament.
Player Registration is $200, and includes 18 holes of golf, pre-tournament lunch, and post-tournament reception and dinner.
Note: Thanks to some generous sponsors, we have several reduced-fee registrations available. If you would like to participate at a reduced fee, email PTA President Ruth Futrovsky at firstname.lastname@example.org.
For more information and to register, see the Golf Tournament page.
ritchie park gets approval for new garden project
Thanks in large part to the efforts of PTA Vice President Sonali Parry and Sarah Miller, MCPS’s Outdoor Environmental Education Program has approved our school to create a garden to be used as an outdoor classroom. This multi-year project will support subjects such as science, social studies and math for every grade, with lessons that support the current curriculum.
The Garden is being implemented in stages:
March 6- April 19: In-classroom Planting: Teachers in each grade have volunteered to initiate in-classroom planting. Students in the following classrooms will begin planting seeds, watering and watching the first stages of growth: Ms. Hill, Ms. Lee, Ms. Cate, Ms. Tsakos/Ms. Keller, Mr. Gray, Mr. Carbonero and Mr. Nelson.
April 12/13: Outdoor assembly begins
April 27: Inauguration of the Garden and Earth Day Celebration! Staff, students, family and the surrounding community are invited to help plant our first items in the garden.
Stay tuned for more information.
