Information regarding the Center for Enriched Studies (formerly the Center for the Highly Gifted)
was recently mailed directly to all parents of Grade 3 students in Montgomery County Public
Schools (MCPS). As stated in that letter, all Grade 3 students in your school will be centrally
reviewed for potential candidacy for the CES rather than parents submitting an application. MCPS
offers both regional and local programs. All Grade 3 students will be considered for a regional
CES program, which is based on their address, unless they attend a school that houses a local
Students who demonstrate an overall above average academic profile will be considered for one
of the seats in the CES. You will be notified in late January as to whether your child will be
considered for the CES. Upon notification, you will have the option of requesting or declining
CES testing. Testing will occur in February 2017, at your child’s school, with selection results
occurring in March.
There will be two CES parent information meetings beginning at 7:00 p.m. on the following dates:
• November 13, 2017 Parent/Guardian Information Meeting at John F. Kennedy High School

Fifth grade parents: Interested in finding out more information about the Middle School Magnet Consortium (MSMC) and Eastern MS and Takoma MS magnet programs?

Open houses will be held as follows:
